Story

If I remember correctly, I wrote this song when I was 17. December 25 of that year was the first Christmas after I'd started writing songs and, more importantly, the Christmas when I found a new joy in celebrating the fact that the Lord had truly come into this world bearing glad tidings of peace and good will.

Lyrics

Gonna sing you a song about Jesus' birth
How the Son of God came down to earth
Born of a virgin in a cattle stall
He came from heaven to save us all
Wise men traveled from afar
They didn't use a map they just followed the star
The star shown big and the star shown bright
A strange new peace was on the earth that night
Shepherds in the field talkin' with the angels
Oh what a marvelous thing it must have been
Oh what a night what a glorious night
The earth was lit up with a heavenly light
People came to see Him from far and wide
They brought Him gifts and laid them by His side
I can feel the love that they felt that night
And in my heart everything's all right
I'm peacefully happy and filled with joy
Because of the birth of that baby boy

Story

Matthew 1:18-58 (Living Bible)

Lyrics

I don't know what to do
I'm so confused about you
A godly woman so meek and mild
And now you tell me that you've conceived a child

I don't know what to do
Mary you know that I love you
But you've been known by another man
I'll try to break this off as quietly as I can

I don't know what to do
I thought you'd love me, I thought that you'd be true
For what you've done I can't have you now
I'm gonna miss you but I'll try to get along somehow

The Lord has shown me what to do
Mary as my wife I'll take you
A godly woman so meek and mild
Our God has chosen you to bear His only child

Story

Luke 2:1-5 (Living Bible)

Lyrics

Mary get up it's time to go
We've gotta get up, gotta get out on the road
Mary are you feelin' all right
We'll be in Bethlehem by night

Mary do you think the time is near
You know the town might be crowded this time of the year
Mary your face is so lovely lit up by the moon
We'll be in Bethlehem soon

Mary praise God for you my lovin' wife
The woman God's picked to go with me through life
Mary here let me help you down
We've made it to the town

Story

Luke 2:6-7 (Living Bible)

Lyrics

We need a place to stay
But everybody seems to turn us away
Can we have a room for the night
Just a simple room for the night

You see my wife she's gonna have a baby
Tonight she'll bear a son
And you're the only one
That we have left to ask
We need a place to stay

Story

Luke 2:6-14 (Living Bible)

Lyrics

Shepherds in the field watchin' over their flocks
An angel appeared and he wanted to talk
The field was lit up with a heavenly light
The shepherds looked on overcome with fright

But the angel said Don't be afraid
I bring you good tidings of great joy
Go into the village and you'll find the baby boy

The Messiah has come yes the Lord is here
Rejoice and be happy there's no need to fear
You'll find Him in the town layin' just where I say
Wrapped in a blanket in a bed of hay

And all the angels sang Glory to God
Glory to God in the highest
And peace on the earth for those that are pleasing to Him

Story

Luke 2:15, Matthew 2:1-8 (Living Bible)

Lyrics

Sing a lullaby for the baby Jesus
Made His way into the cold, cold world
He'll grow up to love and teach us
And spread His love to the cold, cold world

Sing a lullaby for the baby Jesus
Lyin' there safe and warm in the hay
Does He know what it costs to love us
Does He know the price He'll pay

Can He imagine all the pain He'll go through
Does He know that His blood will be spilt
To save sinners like me and you

Sing a lullaby for the baby Jesus
The new born babe will see trouble and strife
Just been born and already
Plans are made to take His life

Sing a song of thanks to the Father
Praise His name on bended knee
Lift your hands shout Hallelujah
This child was born to set us free

Sing a lullaby for the baby Jesus
Made His way into the cold, cold world
He'll grow up to love and teach us
And spread His love to the cold, cold world
And shed His blood for the cold, cold world

Story

Matthew 2:9-10 (Living Bible)

Lyrics

After this night the world won't be the same
A baby is born and Jesus is His name
Born to be the Saviour of us all
This King of Kings lies in a cattle stall

Let us go to Bethlehem to Praise Him
Let us go to Bethlehem to Praise Him

A star is burning in the sky tonight
The child is born surrounded by its light
Come with me to see this glorious sight
I've never seen a star that shone so bright

The child is born tonight in Bethlehem
In the midst of ox and goat and lamb
My soul is overcome by a great joy
Come with me to see this baby boy

Story

Matthew 2:11, Luke 2:16-35 (Living Bible)

Lyrics

I have been traveling
Many, many a mile
And I have been praising
My God all the while

Sing a song, a song for my Saviour
Sing a song, a song for my Lord
Sing a song, a song for my Jesus
Sing a song for the blood to be poured

And I have been searching
For a way to live
And I have found peace now
In the Son God did so freely give

And I have been praying
For the Lord to ransom me
And I know that this baby
Is the One who's going to set me free

Story

Matthew 2:12-14, Luke 2:20 (Living Bible)

Lyrics

Just been born He's already on the run
Satan's plot to take His life has in full force begun
Born to live a life without blame
Despite His perfection they'll fill His life with shame

All the shame Satan put Him through
He chose to suffer for fellowship with you

Beat with fists and spat upon His blood was being shed
They drove nails in His body and soon He would be dead
The arms of death could not hold Him so He rose up from the tomb
He said that He'd return for us and that He's coming soon

Jesus did the things He had to do
How much more must you try and put Him through
The choice is yours will you choose to live or die
If you shuld choose to live then you'll meet Him in the sky

Can't you see He wants you for His own
We're both praying that you will come home

Story

Isaiah 61:1-2, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 (Living Bible)

Lyrics

Maranatha, Hallelujah
The Lord is returning sing Hosana

Sinners redeemed and angels on high
Long for Your returning and look to the sky

The day it is coming when the heavens open wide
And all the Lord's children will rise to His side

All the Lord's prophecies are coming true
And He left me these words to comfort you

The fire in my heart for You Lord it does burn
But I must do Your will and await Your return

The Lamb it is worthy, the Shepherd is strong
I praise You Lord Jesus with this humble song
